Sea House Restaurant

Happy hour after a frolic in Napili Bay’s pristine water sounds like a double win whether you’re a local or visitor. Anchored at the edge of this marvelous cove, Sea House Restaurant is a fine choice for a meal anytime of the day. Start your day right with Molokai sweet potato egg frittata layered with spinach, caramelized Maui onions, Upcountry tomatoes and vegetable ragout; or the Ali’i breakfast, a baked egg dish made extra savory with ham, Portuguese sausage, potatoes, Maui onion jam, and country gravy. Amp up the decadence with the Haleakala pancakes, baked with a light custard batter and caramelized cinnamon sugar, or the homemade cinnamon rolls with macadamia bits coating its cream cheese icing.

For a healthy mid-day nosh, enjoy spinach and papaya salad with candied macadamia nuts, crisp Molokai sweet potato strings and slivers of fresh papaya; chicken mango salad with goat cheese-stuffed avocados on Kula greens dressed with a lilikoi vinaigrette; or furikake-crusted seafood croquettes that combine rock shrimp, mahimahi, scallions, Kula corn and rice. Island tacos are prepared with either panko-crusted fish, kalua pork and avocado or crispy calamari, while the Napili Bay sandwich is inspired daily by the fresh catch. Return later for the spectacular sunset and perhaps the early bird special (for orders placed before 6:00pm), three courses for $32. Or start the evening’s adventure with poke nachos—sashimi ahi in Thai citrus dressing on a bed of limu, crispy wontons, wasabi aioli and creamy sriracha, a Taste of Lahaina winner.

Other menu highlights are the oven-roasted island catch served with artichoke, eggplant and capers on garlic beurre blanc; and the porcino mushroom ravioli with delightful chunks of crab and mascarpone cream. As for the sweet stuff, indulge in the Kilauea lava cake oozing with rich chocolate ganache, caramel macchiato ice cream pie with Kona coffee ice cream on an Oreo crust, or the pineapple tiramisu with mango and guava puree.

Care to unwind with Hawaiian music after your scrumptious dinner? Wednesdays’ Sea House Dinner and Slack Key Show package is the opportune moment. A quick stroll leads to Napili Kai Resort’s Aloha Pavilion, the venue for Grammy award-winning George Kahumoku Jr.’s Slack Key Show: Masters of Hawaiian Music.
