Since 1998, people with an appetite for healthy and wholesome food have found a space in the cozy café and deli known as Joy’s Place. The restaurant’s modest yet deliciously diverse menu is filled with locally-grown and organic options. “There’s something for everyone,” says owner Joy White, and that’s true whether you’re a discerning vegan, vegetarian, raw foodist or just someone who enjoys clean, conscious cuisine.

On the menu you’ll find open range nitrate-free turkey, fresh-caught tuna from Hawaiian waters, live foods (raw, nutrient-rich plant foods simply prepared at 115 degrees or less), smoothies, homemade soups and chilies, breakfast items, fresh teas brewed daily and even a kids menu. Raw vegan items include the Live Nut Burger, a sprouted almond and sunflower patty in a collard green “bun” with fresh Maui veggies, and the Live Burrito Supreme, dehydrated sunflower seeds, cashew cream, veggies and organic salsa wrapped in a collard green or gluten-free rice wrap.

Joy’s Place also offers healthy cooking workshops as part of their mission to help foster a connection between people, good food and health. These classes provide a delicious introduction to organic cooking using fresh Maui-grown ingredients and are popular among locals and visitors alike.
